Like many Madison students, State Street is the first place I go to get my shopping fix. Nearby and peppered with popular stores as well as indie retailers, State Street is great for those who don’t have a car and aren’t willing to bus to West Towne. One of my favorite shops for basics that fit great and will last a long time is the Gap. I recently spoke with Alyssa, a sales associate at the Gap. Alyssa explained that their transition to fall is already well-underway, and that they have tons of the latest wearable trends.
The first thing Alyssa mentioned was their fall line’s color palette that features a variety of mauve colors, including a deeper maroon-pink. These colors appear in their big knit sweaters with thick stripes and fall print shirts.
Denim aren’t the only pants that can be found in fall shades. They now offer corduroy jeggings in maroon and dark blue colors—a far cry from your childhood OshKosk B’Gosh overalls.
Snakeskin print is popular this season as well, especially in the form of jeggings, dresses and bags. You can also find pieces with classic silhouettes that are definitely on trend: check out the cropped dress pant and the wide-leg trouser in their fall line.
For outerwear, the Gap currently carries lightweight jackets and puffy vests (perfect for game day!). But be sure to keep an eye out for the holiday line, rolling out soon, for your favorite winter coats.
