YSL Gets New Creative Director

Hedi Slimane is set to replace Stefano Pilati at YSL as the creative director.  Pilati’s contract with the fashion house is up next month.  For the last several years Pilati’s collections for YSL have been well received although there have been rumors for a while that Pilati would not continue at renowned fashion house.  Hedi Slimane worked as the creative director of YSL from 1996 until 2001 when he went to work for Dior Homme up until 2007.

Another Designer for H&M

The Marni for H&M look book was launched publicly this week.  The look book included all the looks in the collection and pricing.  Marni for H&M presents affordable, wearable pieces that embody the Marni look.  Marni incorporated bold prints, geometric patterns, and large plastic bangles into their collection.  Pricing ranges from $20 to under $100.  Check out the collection here.

Taking Nude Literally

Milliner Robyn Coles’s models go naked on the runway.  Coles claimed she wanted the models to wear her hats in the nude so nothing would detract from the hats.  The new hat designer admitted she expected the press buzz over her unusual choice of presentation to generate attention for her collection.  Coles collection has definitely been garnering attention over the runway show.  Her collection has already been picked up by  You can check out the runway show here.  (Caution NSFW!)

Uniqlo “Just Wants to Have Fun”

Tavi Gevinson, blogger and journalist, and Cyndi Lauper, pop singer, are featured in the new Uniqlo campaign for the collaboration with Orla Kiely.  Uniqlo is a popular Japanese retailer.  They picked Gevinson and Lauper to star alongside each other in their ads to appeal to women of all ages.  Uniqlo is using the campaign to let women know that their clothing is for everyone.

Jil Sander To Step Back Into Creative Director

Raf Simons’s last show for Jil Sander debuted last week at London Fashion Week.  The show has been much lauded by fashion critics as Simons prepares to step down as the German fashion house’s creative director.  Jil Sander, the founder of Jil Sander, will return as the creative director.  Simons’s last collection featured minimal, ladylike pieces that embodied the creative direction he brought to Jil Sander.  Check out his last collection here.

Copycat Claire’s

Tatty Devine is suing jewelry retailer, Claire’s, for ripping-off their famous designs.  Tatty Devine, based in England, says they feel flattered Claire’s admires their jewelry, but this week the jewelry designers talked with lawyers over Claire’s Accessories copycat jewelry.

M.A.C.’s Week With Marilyn

M.A.C. launches a collection based off of Marilyn Monroe’s look.  The collection channels the famed star through lipsticks, nail polishes, eye shadows, and eyeliners.  All cosmetics will be priced below $30.
