Just as MODA presents UW Madison Fashion Week, Los Angeles has been celebrating style as well. This past week, all over the city, showrooms have opened and stores have had a bounty of sales all in the name of Los Angeles fashion.
I had the lucky opportunity to attend an event on Monday evening to honor several prominent British designers who were opening showrooms in Los Angeles. Delicious food and drink accompanied the great music, dancing and conversation. Among the dishes and drinks I sampled, a strawberry concoction happened to be my favorite.
This extra fruity, spritzer-like drink was light and refreshing. The slushy strawberries were exactly what I was craving. The drink was fashionably delicious, and I felt like creating my own so all you UW Madison fashion-goers can enjoy as well.
So put on your most fashionable outfit and grab a strawberry cocktail before you head to MODA’s amazing fashion show to wrap up UW Fashion Week.
Makes one pitcher
2 (10 oz) packages frozen strawberries
1 bottle White Zinfandel
1 (20 oz) bottle ginger ale
Whole strawberry, garnish
Let the bags of frozen strawberries set on the counter for 20 to 30 minutes to defrost slightly. Place one bag in a blender and blend until smooth. In a pitcher, combine the blended strawberries, White Zinfandel and remaining bag of sliced strawberries. Pour in ginger ale and gently mix. To serve, pour into glasses and garnish with a strawberry on the rim.
