As far as dressing up for Halloween goes, sometimes it’s just easier channel the iconic, rather than hunt around for the perfect costume. You can’t go wrong with the perfect Marilyn or Audrey, can you?

This year, try out one of these ten iconic Halloween costumes to make a classic statement while out and about!

1. Catwoman

Leather is an especially huge trend this season, so creating the perfect Catwoman costume is an easy task. Black tights, a leotard, leather boots and a cat mask make the ideal, sexy cat costume.

2. Audrey Hepburn

A vintage-inspired black dress, costume jewelry, black stilettos, black gloves and a cigarette holder constitute the iconic Audrey Hepburn a la Breakfast at Tiffany’s look. Make sure to wear your hair in a beehive style up-do with pins and lots of hairspray!

3. Marilyn Monroe

Dressing like Marilyn is as simple as it gets. Whether you opt for a wig or not, complete the look with a glamorous white halter dress, white shoes and showy earrings.

4. Mario and Luigi

If you’re thinking along the lines of a partner costume, why not have a little fun with the famous Nintendo characters Mario and Luigi? One wears red and the other green, with matching overalls and colored caps (each emblazoned with the respective “M” or “L”). Don’t forget the big moustaches!

5. Tom Cruise in Risky Business

Everyone loves the iconic scene in Risky Business where Tom Cruise shakes it to “Old Time Rock & Roll” in nothing but a button down, underwear and a pair of white socks. Put together this simple, scandalous costume for a quirky party this coming Halloween weekend.

6. Zombie

With many spooky zombie-themed films pervading the industry in recent years, the zombie costume has become a symbolic Halloween staple. Any outfit will work, so long as you powder your face, rip up your clothes, cover yourself in fake blood and master the dragging limp of the undead!

7. Vampire

With the new Twilight film coming out next month, consider imitating Edward and Bella for Halloween. You can turn this costume gothic chic with a black and red dress and cape. Pick out a great pair of fake, fanged teeth to complete the look.

8. Wonder Woman

You can’t go wrong as Wonder Woman for Halloween. Pair star-printed blue spandex shorts with a thick gold belt and red tube top. Remember red boots, gold jewelry and a gold headband with a red star to tie the costume together.

9. Harry Potter

A Gryffindor robe, tie and glasses make up the iconic Harry Potter costume. Use a button down with a grey vest and black pants to make up the base of the look, and don’t forget your wand and lightning-bolt scar!

10. Pirate

Black boots, black pants or a skirt, and a billowy white top are the simple foundation of this costume. Add a black or red vest, bandanas, belts and sashes to further the image, then adorn yourself with finishing accessories of earrings, bracelets and a fake sword to create the ultimate pirate costume.
