Fashion News Recap: Designer Headlines

by Danielle Zabrauskas, Fashion News Correspondent

Designer collaborations have become extremely popular in recent years. There’s something about wearing a huge brand for discounted prices that most cannot pass. The next partnership to watch for is between Maison Martin Margiela and H&M. Think volume and new shapes for this collection, which includes massive sweaters, lofty boots and bags with glove handles. If anything this will be something new for consumers at an accessible store!

If you were to combine Southwest style with that of Rock & Roll, you would without question create that of Maison Scotch. The line features thick knits, innovative skinny jeans and bleached chambray fabrics. If you’re looking to keep warm this season while playing with unique styles, this brand has much to offer.

Popular shoe company, Aldo, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and to help mark this occasion the brand is making environmentally conscious strides. Aldo has supported the reduction of waste for as long as they’ve been in business, and now they are taking the next step to be eco-friendly by adding handles to their shoeboxes. With such a change they will almost never have to provide shopping bags. It is predicted that this action will reduce bag consumption by 40% over the course of this year and by 70% by the end of next year. This is a prime example of fashion helping to save the world!

Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld made headlines this past week after calling France’s president, Francois Hollande, an “idiot.” The insult was a response to Hollande’s taxes on the rich. Though Lagerfeld is known for his newsworthy comments, many are now wondering if this remark will affect the fashion house.
