Emerging Designer: Saunder

by Chloe Karaskiewicz, Fashion Writer

Amidst the hundreds of shows throughout fashion weeks around the world, Saunder stands out in a league of its own. Founded in 2011 by New York City native Emily Saunders, Saunder incorporates urban eclecticism and free-spiritedness for an authentic NYC style. These looks are fresh and clean, fit for the closet of the high society fashionista.

Drawing inspiration from her love of travel, Saunders manages to give her pieces a subtle international flair with their simple design and quality construction. Rich colors like metallic threaded golds and bold reds are perfect for the fall and winter seasons, whether for a chic walk in the park or a classy holiday party.

Looking forward to this upcoming spring, Saunder featured a structured femininity, using the female form as a basis for construction. With deep necklines in open blazers, to-die-for cocktail dresses and brightly colored shorts with sheer trims and brief hemlines, the spring collection brings something entirely unexpected to the industry.

Ranging from flowing to structured pieces in both her Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 collections, the variant identity of the designer is especially impressive. From the drop waist dresses, peplum tops and high-waisted skirts of fall to the mix of structured cocktail dresses and flowy, sheer, asymmetrical day dresses of spring, Saunder is sure to captivate a wide audience with its stunning creations.
