Street Smart: East Coast Chic

by Jen Anderson

I will never forget the day I discovered my friend, Claudia, is from San Francisco, California. Not one person in our French class would be able to tell as Claudia, since the beginning of the semester, has made a consistent impression each day with her East coast style. Day in and day out she dresses meticulously in fall’s best fashions, adorning her neck with vivid scarves and dressing her feet with the cutest boot around. It’s hard not to love her East coast cold weather fashion, especially her penchant for mixing neutrals with bright jewel tones.

This outfit was no exception. Her structured red pea coat and adorable knit hobo hat create an almost Sex and the City, Upper East Side chic look. The outfit was perfect for a chilly Sunday afternoon as Claudia busily spent the day studying and running errands, a vision in just the right mix of comfort and glamour.

Here’s the breakdown:

Name: Claudia Shapiro

Year: Freshman

Majors: Pre- Radio/Film/Television and Strategic Communications

Wearing: Boots – Aerosoles, Skinny Jeans – Henry & Belle (The Blue Jeans Bar), Sweater – Jack. (The Blue Jeans Bar), Infinity Scarf – Forever 21, Pea Coat – Kenneth Cole, Winter Hat – New York City

Personal Style: “I like to be comfortable but very put together. But then again, I don’t overdo it or try to hard. I like dressing for Fall and Winter better than Summer because I love to layer.”

Inspiration/Icons: “Honestly I love New York style. So I probably get it from Gossip Girl: Blair Waldorf, Serena Van der Woodsen and all.”

Favorite Places to Shop: “The Blue Jeans Bar, H&M, and Nordstrom.”

Spotted: Sunday October 28th at 2:30 PM at Gordon Commons
