Buckingham’s, or Buck’s as it is known by its regulars, is located in an often forgotten part of campus, just off the corner of Park and Regent, making it one of Madison’s best kept secrets.
The bar reminds your favorite home-town spot, but isn’t filled with all your obnoxious high school friends. Although Buck’s generally attracts an older crowd, its nightly drink and dinner specials make the trip to the other side of campus well worth your time.
In additional to a daily happy hour, Buck’s hosts Hammertime, which by far is the best deal in town. Serving dollar rails, beers and more for two hours nightly, this is an ideal place for students with empty wallets to student to start their evening.
The best part about this bar is that is never gets too crowded, which means the bartenders have enough time to make quality drinks, and chat with you in their free time. The large bar area also makes for a great place to watch the big game or play some bar dice.
The only downside to Buck’s is how far away it from other bars. I suggest starting here before either heading up to State Street or wandering back toward Regent Street bars.
