Bloggers We Love: Man Repeller

“To commit the act of repelling men: what are you wearing tonight? My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants, of course. Oh, so we’re man repelling tonight?” Coined by Leandra Medine, “man repelling” is the act of wearing any form of harem pants, boyfriend jeans or overalls. Naturally, anything that would make your boyfriend say WTF?

Just two years ago, Medine launched her wonderfully quirky blog, the Man Repeller. With her comedic tone and savvy sense of style, the New School graduate originated what is now one of the most entertaining fashion blogs on the Internet. Success came immediately for Medine, thanks to a post about Man Repeller on Refinery29 just three days after the blog was launched. Two years later, Man Repeller now has over 2.6 million page views a month and over one hundred thousand followers on Twitter.

Turning blogging into a business venture, Medine has developed ties with companies like Michael Kors, Rachel Roy and Saks Fifth Avenue. Although much of her success comes from blogging and advertising, Medine stresses the importance of collaborating with designers.

Partnering with lines like Dannijo and Six London, Medine has made a name for herself in the design world. She is represented by Creative Artists Agency as a Digital Publisher, another swanky term for a blogger.

With a fabulous closet full of unique designer goodies for inspiration, Medine’s posts are nothing short of interesting. Stacking bracelets and wearing brassieres over her t-shirts is simply normal for this fashionable blogger.

From her commentary on Hurricane Sandy to her opinions on Jil Sander’s three hundred dollar lunch bag, there are always plenty of posts to make you LOL. A true fashionista with a fondness for Frank Sinatra and Duchamp, who defines “making it” by “being able to afford your own Rolex,” Leandra Medine has an eye for creative entertainment and will be sure to make you laugh whilst perusing gorgeous printed garments for the upcoming season.
