DLUX is a new favorite spot to downtown Madison, making a name for itself through its wonderful menu and vibe, at any hour of the day.

Upon entering the restaurant, the bar is looks trendy and inviting. Plenty of large bar chairs surround the counter, making the area a great place to sit for a drink, or to stay longer for an entire meal.

To the left, a wall lined with tables for two are set up and intimate curved booths fill the other side of the restaurant. These private spots have a way of making you feel alone with your date, although the restaurant is often very full.

The combination of these things brings a New York vibe to Madison, but unlike New York dining, this menu doesn’t break a college budget.

DLUX’s menu features low-price cocktails and drinks ranging from $5-7, only seen during happy hours at other bars, and “designer burgers” all priced at $8.

Popular entrees include beef burger like the Sunrise, complete with a fried egg, pepperjack, housemade tomato jam and shoestring potatoes and “sorta burgers” like the California chicken club.

Although DLUX gives the impression of leaving Wisconsin, their menu also features dishes true to the Midwest. February’s burger of the month is the Bockfest, a brat patty topped with onions and sauerkraut, served on a pretzel bun.

DLUX also features shakes and floats using Sassy Cow products, from a family-owned dairy just 15 minutes from Madison.

Low lighting and upbeat, current music played through dinner helps make a seamless transition from restaurant to late night hang out spot.

Come in for a late snack and try one of DLUX’s house-made sodas or a specialty side dish like the blue cheese and bacon fries.

Or, if dessert is more your thing, the Left Hand Milk Stout float is also an excellent choice.

For a restaurant that features two happy hours nightly, an excellent dinner menu, great service and a brunch featuring bottomless mimosas, there is not much bad to be said about DLUX.

Happy hour: Monday-Thursday from 3-6 PM and 10 PM to close.

DLUX is located at 117 Martin Luther King Dr. Blvd. and is open Sunday through Tuesday 11 AM to midnight and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 2 AM.
