Men’s MFW Fall 2013: Street Style Review

by Yeonju Oh

Back in January, Milan Men’s Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2013 saw a wonderful showing of its famous vibrant and sophisticated street style. For this seven-day event, fashionistos/as from all over the world flooded into the city, decked head-to-toe in innovative style combinations while on their quest to find inspiration in the latest designer offerings.

Though the looks from the runway shows themselves were the highlights of the week, the best fashion advice and ensembles often come from the streets.

While browsing Milan street style snapshots, there were clearly two standout themes for Fall/Winter Milan fashion: the classic style and the toned-down colors.

Despite rapidly changing trends, the classics remain consistent among the fashion pack. Men and women alike chose to use classic styles in their wardrobes to stay chic and fabulous this season. It is always a good to remember that classic options do not necessarily mean rigid and strict uniforms, but rather a relaxed look with refined and sophisticated styles.

The other theme notably different from recent years was the use of toned-down colors. While many last season were eager to wear an array of bright colors and statement pieces (such as graphic patterns), clothing crafted in a muted color palette appeared more on the streets in January. These toned-down colors are the ideal choice for emphasizing other chic trends this year.

Get inspired with a few street style looks below.
