Fashion Forward at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art

My Friday night was spent attending the wonderful Fashion Forward event at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, created in collaboration between She’s the First, the Student Retail Association, and Her Campus. She’s the First is a national non-profit organization promoting girls’ education in developing countries, and served as the financial focus of the night. All proceeds from the event went to the fabulous cause of helping three teenage girls in Guatemala become the first in their families to graduate from school.

I arrived promptly at 8 PM and was greeted by a pop-up shop from Flagship USA, a bevy of Kiehl’s product samples, a silent auction with Hudson Jeans, Textile by Elizabeth and James and a contest for some great restaurant gift cards, one of which I happened to win!

The show began a bit after 9 PM with looks from Flagship USA, Citrine, Change, Servv, Hudson Jeans, Joe’s Jeans and Textile by Elizabeth and James. Models strutted down the gorgeous steps of the museum, with a bright, colorful background behind them.

After the runway show, Emily Parkinson, the event director, announced the beginning of a silent auction. Girls stood anxiously by jackets, jeans and gift cards in the hopes they would win, with their contributions going straight to She’s the First.

Overall, the event was a great success. All proceeds went to a wonderful cause and many students showed up to support their friends and the wonderful organizations in which they take part.
