With stripes entering the runway vertically and horizontally, it’s hard to avoid the boldness of the look. New York Fashion Week first declared stripes a trend for spring, and since have appeared in fashion in all shapes and forms. Although you may be hesitant to embody this new look, paired with the right pieces, you can dispel this fear while enhancing the natural shape of your body. On the runways this season, designers mixed wide and thin stripes, and often paired them with florals. These are not typical day-to-day looks that are easy to pull off.

The key to wearing stripes off the catwalk and in the real world is to ground them with one solid-colored piece. Trousers or jeans go great with a striped blouse. In addition, vertically striped pants and skirts lengthen your figure, making you appear slimmer and taller when paired with a solid-colored top. Avoid horizontal stripes when it comes to dresses because they tend to widen your shape. However, if you have a curvier build, go for it to enhance those lady curves! With all of this boldness occurring in apparel, you need simple accessories. Hop on board this spring and celebrate this fun trend with some of MODA’s finds-for-less, and don’t be afraid to show your stripes.
