Street Smart: Brightening the Rain
by Jesse Tovar
Let’s face it, whoever coined the saying “April showers bring May flowers” would have been shocked by this past month’s precipitation. With weeks of rain and gray skies, the morale of the Madison population was at an all-time low. All we needed was a little sun! But sometimes, if we dress to our advantage during dreary weather, we can make life a whole lot better.
I found sophomore Amanda Rabito sketching away at the Student Activity Center on a Friday afternoon. As a costume design major, she’s no rookie when it comes to style and fabrics. Her polka dot rain jacket immediately caught my eye because I thought there’s no better way to fight the weather than with the classic pattern.
Matched with a simple tank top and beaded necklace, Amanda effortlessly pulls off the spring-ready look – even if it were to start pouring rain. Who knows, maybe if you dress brightly the weather will notice and reciprocate for you!
