On Saturday, September 21st whilst walking through Fresh Market among a sea of red and white fandom, I spotted Rockie Cheng, a junior from China.  Surpassing the norm, Rockie wasn’t sporting a red sweatshirt, shorts, high socks bearing the badger logo, or a signature Bucky cheek tattoo. Rather she was on a completely different page, deviating from the typical game-day outfit for your average Badger girl.

Rockie immediately caught my interest when I noticed her clutching her classic Chanel handbag.  Upon approaching her to ask about her fabulous accessory, she told me that she was not only carrying a Chanel handbag, but wearing a pair of Chanel boots as well. She then explained that her sweater was purchased from Forever21, which gave her ensemble a nice, humble contrast. This aspect of Rockie’s style is what really peaked my interest, though the Chanel purse and boots certainly contributed too. Simply put, Rockie’s look was effortlessly cool as she not only seamlessly blended elements of high and low fashion together, but also demonstrated how to create the perfect transitional ensemble. Her ombre sweater was a must-have for summer 2013 style, and by pairing it with black tights and black booties, she allowed the piece to transition perfectly into a fall-appropriate look.
