Street Smart: Halloween Spirit

by Annie Murphy, Fashion Writer

Becca Street Smart 02It can be tricky to find a good balance between sexy and sweet for Halloween costumes, and many girls seem to favor the former over the latter when the time comes. However, it is easy to still have a cute, creative, and fun costume without showing off a lot of skin! Demonstrating this was Becca Bahrke, who hippie style ensemble caught my eye on Saturday night. She seemed to have mastered this sexy and sweet combination in her look, and she also managed to stay warm in this cold Wisconsin weather.

Dressed as a flower child, Bahrke said she imagined herself to be back in the “Summer of ’69,” like the song by Bryan Adams. Bahrke dressed up in two other costumes throughout her Halloweekend, but this was her favorite look.

“It was fun to take on this ‘free spirit’ attitude for the night and I loved that I got to wear my favorite pieces and still look fashionable,” Bahrke said.

Deriving inspiration from the stories her father told her about his Woodstock experiences in 1969, Bahrke was able to express her love of music, fashion and culture through her ensemble in a way that was creative, unique and stylish nonetheless.

Here’s the breakdown:
