Street Smart: Brighten Up

by Jessica Hamilton, Contributing Writer

Street Smart KatherineBetween recovering from Freakfest, being in the midst of sick season, and November reigning in mid-semester stress, many people are beginning to lack motivation to create trendy outfits.

Yet as I was strolling down Dayton Street, I spotted Katherine Nahn’s beautiful burgundy pants. A unique spin on regular denim, the perfect fall shade of these pants contrasted nicely with her neutral-colored Lands’ End sweater and black Old Navy vest while still matching the red accent stripe in her scarf.  Like many UW-Madison students, Katherine mentioned that she has been fighting off a cold, but she is proof that dressing for success despite feeling under the weather is possible!

When asked about her personal style, Katherine noted that she prefers comfy clothes that are also stylish, including slouchy sweaters with scarves. She laughed as she remarked, “I also like to wear dresses because they are more comfortable than jeans!” Either way, Katherine demonstrates how incorporating a bold print is the perfect way to brighten up a neutral outfit, especially when we will all need a little more brightness during the Wisconsin weather to come!
