For the Theyskens’ Theory fall 2013 collection, Olivier Theyskens used a strategic juxtaposition of feminine and masculine details. Such looks consisted of oversized sweaters and structured blazers which were paired with short, flirtatious skirts and knee-high boots. Incorporating hues from the traditional fall palette, the collection focused on neutral colors such as olive, black, grey and navy, but brightened them up with white accents to add dimension to the ensembles.
The collocation of an oversized sweater with a shorter mini-skirt presents a new way to wear your cozy, larger knits this fall. Thus, resist the urge to wear your favorite sweater with a basic pair of black leggings. Instead, channel Theyskens’ Theory swap your leggings for a skirt in black, olive or grey. Then, throw on a pair of black riding boots and leather gloves to finish the look. Though not shown on the runway, a pair of black tights will keep you warm as the temperature continues to drop, so be sure to incorporate those as well. Lastly, finish off the ensemble with nude lips and natural makeup for an effortlessly feminine look.
