Looking out the library window for a source of natural inspiration, my hopes of a sunny day are often quickly crushed by the gray of winter. However, while your surroundings may be dark and dreary, fashion is the best way to brighten not only your look but also your mood. With Diane von Furstenberg’s Ready-To-Wear fall 2013 collection, she took the throwback inspiration from the ‘70s to a new level. With her glam rock attire, she mixed bold patterns and prints with metallic leather fabrics, capitalizing on the glitz of her collection. Additionally, DVF tried to recapture aspects of the label’s brand that she felt have recently lacked presence. “DVF has always been about [being] effortless and easy,” she said during a preview. “It’s the dress that closes the deal.” Featuring fur-trimmed details, full fur jackets and vests, suede dresses, skirts, and pink and red color combinations, DVF’s fall 2013 collection embodies a timeless glamour, making it the perfect cure for a case of the winter blues.
