Street Smart: Glamoflauge

by Kelsey Eichman, Contributing Writer

“Why do we take the extra ten minutes every morning to wear something pretty if that’s the last thing we want to do?”

Lindsey SmithAfter noticing Lindsey’s adorable military green, leather-sleeved jacket upon the conclusion of my Wednesday power lecture, it was this question that provoked me to ask her about what the appeal of stylish dressing is.

In answering my inquiry, Lindsey quoted celebrity stylist, Rachel Zoe, to explain her thoughts. She said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” After hearing this, I realized that both Lindsey and I love the thought of deciding who you want to be every morning. Not only can you express a piece of yourself through your style, but you also get to choose which “piece” of your personality will be featured that day. For Lindsey, the dressing up part of her day is just another way to share a little bit of herself with others.

Lindsey’s layered look shows us how to rock prints in a smart way. Her printed sweater brings some fun into her ensemble while her structured jacket keeps everything in line. She mixes elements like boho prints and edgier leather to make a relaxed yet polished weekday look, allowing her carefully layered outfit to give us all a little glimpse of who Lindsey really is.
