Warm beverages are a must for the holiday season. There are so many beloved holiday beverages to choose from like cider, eggnog, and gingerbread lattés. My absolute favorite will always be hot chocolate. There is just nothing better than drinking hot chocolate by the Christmas tree. Around the holiday season, I always make a special kind of “holiday” hot chocolate with an interesting peppermint twist. This is perhaps the easiest holiday tradition to recreate in college because it is incredibly easy to make. All you need is a few ingredients and a microwave. The only ingredients are a packet of hot cocoa mix and Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses. This holiday drink is rich and unique compared to regular peppermint flavoring. Simply add three to five Candy Cane kisses, hot cocoa mix, and water in a mug, and then heat it in the microwave until the kisses have melted. If a stronger peppermint flavor is desired, add more Candy Cane kisses. To top off this yummy treat I usually add some marshmallows or whip cream before indulging by the fireplace or Christmas tree.
