Splurge vs. Save: Valentine’s Day

Notoriously, Valentine’s Day is known to evoke mixed feelings among couples and singles alike. Yet even though it’s the most romantic day of the year, the holiday itself, ironically, does not need to revolve around your relationship status.

Rather, why not use this day as a reason to admire the relationship you have with yourself?  Instead of fretting over finding a date or trying to figure out which gift to give your significant other, take this 24-hour lapse of time to treat yourself. Whether you’re still sitting on a considerable amount of money from holidays past or you’re proudly embracing the Ramen noodle diet, this mini splurge vs. save guide will hopefully inspire you to invest a little something in you.  After all, single or not, everyone deserves a reward that acknowledges just how fabulous they are.

Splurge vs. Save Fragrance

Fragrances

Whether you’re looking to impress your significant other, vying for the attention of someone new or just simply wanting to smell fabulous, designer fragrances are the perfect confidence-boosting gift to treat yourself with this Valentine’s Day.  If you’re looking to update your signature scent on a budget try Victoria’s Secret Angel Gold ($45-$59) or, if fragrances are your splurge-worthy guilty pleasure, try Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle ($110-$185).

Splurge vs. Save Wristwear

Wrist-Wear

When spoiling yourself this Valentine’s Day wander outside the traditional accessories box to explore eye-catching wrist-wear.  Alex and Ani offer a vast collection of charm bangles running as low as $28.  Each charm bangle holds a special meaning and the affordable price tag means collecting a few bracelets for each arm won’t deplete your life savings.  If you’re looking for a pricier, higher-quality piece of arm candy, consider this Michael Kors leather wrap watch for $180.  The combination of stainless steel and leather make the watch wearable with both casual and formal ensembles.

Splurge vs. Save Sunglasses

Sunglasses

Although the radiant sunshine is seemingly non-existent during these frigid, gloomy winter months, springtime will creep up on us before we know it.  To spur the presence of warm weather and the beaming sun, treat yourself to a new pair of sunglasses.  Rihanna’s label, River Island, offers an inexpensive tortoise shell style for $21 and, if you’re willing to splurge, Tory Burch’s Panama Sunglasses come in five different styles with a steeper price tag of $195.
