Establishing a School Skincare Routine

Getting back into a school schedule means going back to long days filled with class and club meetings, lots of stress and to-do lists that never seem to complete themselves. At this point in the semester, most of you are probably getting into the swing of things and developing a daily routine. Your routine might include things like when you need go to class, head to yoga and hit the books. Another routine that you need to establish as soon as possible is your daily skincare routine.

Every skincare routine should include at least two steps: cleansing and moisturizing. When you wake up in the morning, you must wash your face to rid your pores of excess oils and impurities. It’s vital to wash your face every evening as well to get makeup and dirty off your face. It doesn’t matter how tired you are. Whether you’ve been out all night or just finished a paper in the wee hours of the morning, you need to wash that pretty face of yours. Your complexion will thank you later. My pick, morning and night, is CLINIQUE’s Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser.

At night, it’s important to use an eye makeup remover in addition to the cleanser to get all your eye shadow, liner and mascara off. I’ve heard one too many girls say that they nix this step, assuming water and cleanser gets rid of all their eye makeup. If you don’t take the time to wash off all of your eye makeup, you will likely wake up with puffy, irritated eyes.

The last necessary step is a great moisturizer.  My go-to is CLINIQUE’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+. Apply this to your entire face and your neck each morning and evening.

We established the back to school beauty basics, the “pens and notebooks” that every girl needs to conquer the semester. However, throughout the year you need those extra tools, like highlighters and notecards, to make the grade. Sometimes, you need a few extra skincare products to give your face the greatest glow. When I’m in need of a pore detoxification, I grab Boscia’s Luminizing mask. All I have to do to brighten and purify my face is put on an even layer of the black product, leave it on until it dries (typically 15 minutes) and then simply peel it away. When you peel it off, all your dead skin and the unnecessary oils will come out from inside your pores.

I wish you the best in the studying and skincare this school year. As long as you follow a basic, day-to-day routine, I’m positive that you’ll make the grade!
