Lazy Girl’s Guide to: A Lazy Day

by Allie Jeka, Lifestyle Writer

Between studying for final exams and tackling holiday shopping, we’re about to dive headfirst into end-of-the-year stress. When you feel like you’re really going to hit your breaking point, treat yourself to a day of relief. A lazy day provides relief from stress and will help you feel rejuvenated once you get back to your busy schedule the next day. It can be hard to take a break. Whenever I enjoy lazy time, I constantly feel guilty that there are other things I could be getting done. Doing nothing for a day can be tricky.

First, sleep in. Catching up on sleep will alleviate your anxiety and better prepare you to handle stressful tasks the next day. When you get up (or, even better, before you go to sleep the night before), choose your lazy day outfit. Cozy and comfortable loungewear will help you relax. If your pajamas are cute, you won’t feel so bad about staying in them all day.

Next, choose a lazy day activity that will help you unwind.

If you’re worried about not being too productive, get a jump on preparing your holiday gifts without leaving the couch. Making paper snowflakes or a no-sew blanket requires little concentration and can be done while watching a movie. Make a list of gifts to give. Do some online shopping.

Eventually, you’ll need a snack. Apples, grapes, and bananas will all keep you from feeling sluggish without making a mess if you’re spending your lazy day in bed or on the couch. If you’re in the mood for dessert, try this microwavable easy deep-dish cookie for one recipe.

Later on in the day, pamper yourself. Take a bubble bath, use a facemask, give yourself a pedicure – do whatever helps you feel refreshed.

Taking a day off can be extraordinarily beneficial. If you’ve been working hard, then give yourself a guilt-free break. A lazy day can be just what you need to help carry you through the busy end of the year!
