Scream Queens: To Die for Fashion
There is no question that the fashion on the new hit series, Scream Queens, is to die for. Literally. Wallace University has been experiencing a series of murders on campus, leaving everyone in a state of panic. Although the Kappa House has already encountered several murders, the sorority sisters kill it in the fashion department.
Chanel Oberlin, the leader of the sorority brat pack, claims to have Karl Lagerfeld as a godfather and gets first dibs on any of the pieces from the newest Chanel collections. Needless to say, her closet is a little slice of Chanel heaven. Chanel’s minions have been dubbed “The Chanels,” and each have a number to help differentiate them all.
Lou Eyrich, the costume designer, said she wanted the girls to look like candy and ultimately settled on the decadent, pastel color palette of macarons. This palette is accomplished with costumes featuring endless feathers, fur and frills in soft shades. Eyrich said the Chanels’ wardrobe was inspired by a combination of Mean Girls, Clueless and the Heathers. What’s a girl not to love with an entire wardrobe of pastel feathered frocks and sumptuous fur shrugs?
Since I primarily watch the show for the fashion, I thought the Chanels were the perfect place for a bit of Halloween costume inspiration. I created three costume looks inspired by Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts), Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd) and Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin). Rocking one of these chic, feathery looks will ensure a killer Halloween and of course, your costume will be to die for.
