Fashion News Recap: Abercrombie Rebrands, Anthropologie Expands & Zayn x Versus
NOT JUST FOR THE COOL KIDS
Abercrombie & Fitch has been dealing with loads of bad press for years now. Several efforts towards damage control have been attempted, but ultimately they have made little difference in their sales. In their latest campaign, A&F released a new video with the tagline “This is Abercrombie & Fitch: Enduring Style. Always Evolving.” The campaign creates a more approachable vibe, a complete flip from their early 2000s branding that focused on being elite and part of the “in” crowd. With the holidays right around the corner, it looks like the brand is hoping to boost sales and recover their loses through this fresh campaign that challenges consumers’ past perceptions of the brand.
HOME JUST GOT A LITTLE SWEETER
In addition to their eclectic clothing, Anthropologie is known for selling various, unique home products, like their to-die-for candles and intriguing coffee table books, that help give homes a vintage and relaxed vibe. Since these products have been so successful, the company is now opening stores that are up to 30,000 square feet, according to Fashionista. With this extra space Anthro plans to expand their beauty, home and wedding sections in hopes of being able to meet more of their customers’ needs. The company hopes the shops-in-shops format of the new stores will decrease clutter and make a more enjoyable experience.
ZAYN DESIGNS FOR VERSACE
Following his collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti, Zayn is taking on yet another collaboration project. He will be working with Donatella Versace on a line of men’s and women’s clothing for the Versus Versace line, according to Vogue. Zayn sported attention-stealing, robot-inspired Versace suit for the Met Gala last May, so the collaboration is fitting. The line, Zayn x Versus, is scheduled to launch this upcoming May. Designer collaborations are certainly not in short supply between the power couple that is Zayn and Gigi!
