If, like me, you are still mourning over the final moments of the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, then this article is just what you need! If you can no longer obsess over the countless episodes of Gilmore Girls because you’ve already finished them (multiple times), then instead choose to obsess over the quirky style of Lorelai Gilmore. Though it may be tempting to follow Lorelai’s advice to, “Get back in your pajamas, go to bed, eat nothing but gallons of ice cream and tons of pizza,” instead try to find inspiration. Where else could you find such a hub of unique and original stylings? Check out this list of style tips gleaned from Lorelai’s never-dull wardrobe:

  1.      Never be without your bandana

Whether you’re emptying out your entire fridge because it’s making a strange sound or just need to keep your hair out of your face, Lorelai taught us that the bandana is the ultimate solution. Not only that, but pairing it with a tie dye shirt and your favorite jeans is the obvious go-to.

  1.      Sweater Vests Galore

Although it’s hard to come to terms with, there’s no one who can pull off the sweater vest as well as Lorelai Gilmore (not to be confused with her daughter, Lorelai Gilmore). Grabbing a pair of perfectly color-coordinated pair of glasses is key as well!

  1.      Flower Crown Queen

Although the season for flower crowns isn’t quite upon us, Lorelai nonetheless has a full ensemble planned for you at the first sign of spring. Pale pink flowers pull together her floral dress and make it seem like she came straight out of a fairytale.

  1.      Oy with the pigtails already!

I think the last time my hair was in pigtails was in the second grade when I couldn’t imagine wearing my hair any other way while adorning my sparkly, fuzzy blue sweater with a large purple heart on it. Although some may say this hairstyle should be left behind in elementary school, Lorelai would beg to differ. She plays up her pigtails in a way that make her look sophisticated and energetic at the same time. Her plain black, mock-neck sweater and neutral makeup helps make her hairstyle the highlight of the outfit. Let’s leave it up to the pro, however, to pull off those white, fuzzy cuffs at the ends of her sleeves.

  1.      Play up Business Casual

Running your own inn can be a handful, but somehow Lorelai maneuvers her business successfully all while maintaining a classy look. She replaces the expected black suit jacket for something for more fun, more Lorelai. This pink overcoat manages to keep her looking serious for business, but ready to switch things up for a day out hitting the town. Completing the look is easy because the pieces might already be hanging in your closet!

  1.      Coffee, coffee, coffee!

Lorelai isn’t the Lorelai we know and love without her endless and spontaneous need for coffee! Although we don’t all have our very own Luke’s Diner, hitting up your regular coffee shop will just have to do to. The much-needed coffee in hand will fully encompass the Lorelai look (though a matching knitted hat and scarf of various colors couldn’t hurt either).
