Oscars 2017 Best Dressed List
Arguably more fun to watch than the show itself, the Oscars red carpet is one of the biggest events of the year for fashion. This year, Hollywood’s biggest stars displayed show-stopping looks worthy of awards themselves. The night was full of white-hot gowns, intricate embellishments, statement necklines and of course hot men in tuxedos. Among the bold, the questionable and the flat out fabulous looks, these stars stood out in the mix.
It goes without saying that Hailee Steinfeld absolutely slayed, but for emphasis: Hailee Steinfeld SLAYED. From her hair, to her makeup, to her shoes and the ethereal dream in between, Hailee looked flawless. The high-necked, floral gown stunned from every angle thanks to the beautiful appliqué and ruffled back detail. Hailee, if you need someone to take that dress off your hands, call me.
Another notable slaying, Taraji P. Henson was the embodiment of glamour and allure. Taraji showed off her incredible figure with a leg slit and off the shoulder straps that plunged into a deep-v neckline. The deep blue velvet gown was styled to perfection, accessorized with a diamond statement necklace and black heels.
Following one of the biggest trends of the night, Auli’i Cravalho, voice of Moana, looked beautiful in a white Rubin Singer gown. The striking strapless dress emanated art deco vibes with the geometric lines and gold shine.
Zuri Hall served up some major feminine flare in this Uel Camilo creation. The pastel purple gown hit all the bases featuring ruffled tulle, sparkling embellishments and sheer detailing.
Emma Roberts was having a major glamour moment in this black and crème Armani Privé. The soft curls and red lip channeled old Hollywood flair. This simple yet finely detailed gown is both sexy and sophisticated.
Either you love or hate this look on Jessica Biel. Adorably, her husband Justin Timberlake showed his admiration for his wife by playfully photo bombing her on the red carpet. However, the Tiffany necklace feels out of place with the otherwise beautiful look.
Two words: Emma. Stone. An Oscar wasn’t the only thing she won Sunday night. On top of earning herself the title of Best Actress for La La Land, Emma’s ensemble was also a winner. The Givenchy Haute Couture gown transformed her into a golden statue. Topped off with soft waves, a bold lip and smoky eyes, this look was a home run.
To represent the men, Ryan Gosling was a tall drink of dreamy in his black tux. Ryan differentiated himself from the standard black coat and white shirt by instead sporting a ruffled shirt with black accent stitching.
Also shaking things up, Riz Ahmed opted for a refreshing change from the standard black and white. The sapphire blue tuxedo was perfectly tailored and offered a pop of color on the carpet.
Finally, to round out the list, the lovely Janelle Monae stunned in an eighteenth century style gown with a modern twist. From the hairpiece to the statement neck, Janelle was certainly a winner with this look. The black tulle accents on either side of the skirt add to the statement this dress makes, though if removed would reveal a sleeker look that doesn’t detract from all the gorgeous Janelle has going on. Nonetheless, the look is stunning.
Overall, this year’s Oscars were a celebration of film and fashion that did not disappoint. Some honorable best-dressed mentions include Chrissy Teigen, Halle Berry, and Brie Larson. Who’s already looking forward to next year?
