Boys in bling are breaking boundaries

A tantalizing fresh decade in fashion, sees a growing number of men choosing to diversify and expand their style repertoires; as such, this expansion provides for increasingly androgynous pieces, effeminate jewelry, and a kaleidoscopic assemblage of colors and patterns that haven’t been in style for a few decades.

However, jewelry in men's fashion is having something of a renaissance, and there is no better time to delve neck-deep into the jewelry world. Influences from predominant artists like Harry Styles, Timothée Chalamet and A$AP Rocky have brought men's jewelry back into the mainstream conversation. As a result, more and more men are donning stacks of rings, dazzling bracelets and longer earrings layered with pearls, and various other traditionally feminine inspirations.

As men's fashion takes more inspiration from traditionally feminine motifs, many men are apprehensive about adding jewelry to their style rotation; nevertheless, it remains without question that jewelry projects personal identity with fashionable precision.

Time and time again, celebrities like Jaden Smith are lauded for their incorporation of industrially inspired earrings and tasteful Cartier bracelets thus demonstrating a sense of sophistication that captures the attention of others.

Every man can find classic and economical jewelry options that set them apart while promoting their own unique fashion identity. After all, looking good has never been about spending the most money and with the rise of consignment options, finding jewelry that works at a great price has never been easier.

Indeed, thrifting is one of the best ways to acquire jewelry, as it lessens the fashion industry's impact on the environment, and remains overwhelmingly inexpensive and shamelessly timeless.

Building up your jewelry range is a process that takes time and begins with a single coveted piece, often a bracelet or necklace that can be worn daily. As with all fashion, it remains paramount that you are patient and willing to make mistakes.

The allure of the tacky leather bracelets and stretchy wristbands is high, but resist the urge; rather, go for a small chain or tasteful band. In truth, a subtle silver or gold chain bracelet marks an approachable stepping stone into the jewelry world which works with essentially any outfit from balmy beach days to black tie galas. If bracelets are not your style, a chain or link necklace is even less daring; what is more, any necklace can just as easily be tucked under the shirt and out of view if the moment demands it.

In the end, jewelry, as with all things in fashion, is a matter of self expression; as such, the journey of self exploration has just begun. While Marlyn Monroe thought diamonds were a girl's best friend, the truth is, they may just be a boy's best friend too.
