Michael Kors Buys Versace for $2.1 Billion

A headline, seemingly as colossal as a total apocalypse, broke Tuesday informing the world that Michael Kors purchased Versace for no less than $2.1 billion.

Misleading initial reports made it seem as though this meant Michael Kors, the designer, would now be designing for and taking over Italian fashion house, Versace.

The deal is essentially just business in that Michael Kors, the holding company, acquired Versace as a part of its growing conglomerate. Plenty of other well-known and loved brands are run by “supergroups,” as W calls them, such as LVMH,  under which Marc Jacobs, Bulgari, Givenchy, and Fresh Cosmetics fall, to name a few.

Rest assured, Donatella Versace will still serve as the creative director of her family’s namesake brand.

@Somethingnavy Launches Collection with Nordstrom

Arielle Charnas, the mega-blogger and Instagram star behind @Somethingnavy, launched an exclusive collection at Nordstrom on Monday.

Cashing in on her enormous following (1.1 million), Charnas created a line featuring simple yet feminine pieces adaptable for wardrobes of late teens and late thirties alike.

And cash in she did. WWD reports that the collection racked up “over $1 million,” in its first 24 hours online.

With an attainable price range, it makes sense that the Something Navy Collection at Nordstrom crashed the retailer’s website. Arielle Charnas has certainly proven herself a force to be reckoned with not only as an influencer but in her role as a designer too.

Cardi B Front Row at Mugler, Paris Fashion Week

Watch out Paris; Cardi B is in town. The rapper supported new designer at Mugler, Casey Cadwallader at his first show on Wednesday.

Cardi is not bowing out of the limelight despite recent drama including a high-profile brawl with Nicki Minaj. She’s here to claim her throne as a fashion icon, and her attendance at all the most high-coverage fashion shows over the past week is proof in the putting.
