The Importance of Using a Planner
By Shelby Spiegel, Lifestyle Staff Writer
As a busy college student, it is easy to get lost in the multitude of obligations that crop up week after week. Whether this is homework, your next shift at work or even the time of the upcoming football game, a planner is a must when it comes to keeping tasks in order. Just like any other possession in your life, your organizer defines who you are as a person. This may seem a bit odd, but let me explain.
Assuming your planner is with you throughout most hours of the day, it is important that it reflects who you are and can organize your life in the easiest way possible. For me, each 2-page spread consists of the days of the week on the left, with my notes and to-do list on the right. Not only does this allow me to keep track of what I have done that week, but I am also able to write quick reminders in my notes. I can also prioritize my homework and other obligations under my to-do section.
Everyone has different aspects of their life that need managing, so it is important to find the right planner for your lifestyle. There are plenty of stores that sell beautiful, clean organizers, but it can be difficult to narrow it down. May Designs, a company that specializes in the customization of organizers, has an array of choices when it comes to cover design, name personalization and size. The website walks the user through a step-by-step process that designs the planner as they go, creating it to fit their specific needs. The end result is completely original and one-of-a-kind. If you are short on time and want to find a pre-designed planner, look no further than Ban.do or Rifle Paper Co. for gorgeous layouts. You should take pleasure in using your planner, so pick a design that suits your personality!
I don’t know about anyone else, but my planner the number one thing that helps me maintain control. With a busy life and so many things to remember each day, it is extremely easy to forget those important office hours, the group project meeting or the quickly approaching paper deadline. Planners put everything in one place, right in front of you. Having a way to organize your tasks makes it that much easier to manage everything on your plate as you progress through each day. After all, you can’t cross things off your to-do list if you don’t have one in the first place.
