Marc Jacobs Leaves Louis Vuitton

After months of speculation, Marc Jacobs announced that he is stepping down as the creative director of Louis Vuitton to focus on the public transition of his company. Perhaps the biggest shock of fashion month, Jacobs broke the news at the Louis Vuitton show on Wednesday. In his 16-year-long dedication to the brand, Jacobs introduced groundbreaking ideas that not only developed into memorable LV collections, but also kept buyers early on the edge of their seats season after season.

Although the French brand’s fashion collections have proven to be spectacular, satisfaction with LV handbags and accessories has seemingly fallen in recent years. Thus, LV sales have taken a hit as the brand struggles to find a consumer target. Its “masstige” status has caused luxury shoppers to look past LV and invest in more exclusive items. Meanwhile, middle-class shoppers are foregoing LV splurges in light of the fallen economy.

In response to the decline in sales, the brand is taking a “hyper-luxury” approach, namely by offering more expensive handbags.  A new accessories designer was hired to put a more luxurious spin on the brand’s staple items.

Kerry Washington’s Fashionable Honor

If you ever reach the level of fashionable prestige to earn the title of “Best Dressed Person in the World,” would you make your first public appearance donning sweats? Most likely not, but the bold and beautiful Kerry Washington did.

When asked if she felt heightened pressure after Vanity Fair’s announcement, she answered that she went to work in sweats the day after the news broke.

“My goal has never been to wind up on anybody’s list – it’s just to have a good time,” the renowned fashionista said.

Striving to “be happy on the red carpet,” Washington plans to take the same approach to fashion in the future.

In the wake of the proclamation, new eyes will be looking to Ms. Washington for fashion advice, but that won’t rattle her nerves in the slightest. Thankfully, the news didn’t go to her head and, ironically, it didn’t affect her wardrobe either
