Update Your Spring Beauty Routine with Pantone’s Color Report

If you are familiar with Pantone, then you may have seen their color forecast for spring 2017. The company is known for predicting what colors will be trending during the next season, and this year’s ten-shade lineup features the color of the year, Greenery, among other bright shades ranging from Niagara, a dusty blue, to Flame, a dark yet vibrant orange. The colors embody those typically worn during the spring season. However, Pantone always adds in a few wildcards that you can expect to see in fashion, home décor and beauty throughout the ensuing few months.
Now, you may be thinking, how would I ever incorporate neon orange or blue into my makeup routine? Well, there are actually many fun, yet wearable ways to do so! Here are three combinations to try.
Simple Sophistication
If you want to update your shade selection without getting too risky, Pantone’s selection offers a few shades that work perfectly. Use Pale Dogwood, a light, muted pink, or Hazelnut, a nutty taupe, for inspiration. These colors can be applied anywhere on the face. Either works as a one-stop layer of eyeshadow or blush and can even flatter the lips. Find variations of these shades in the Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette or the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette. The blush shades can be used as eyeshadow and vice versa. For wearing Pale Dogwood on the lips, look for a light, balmy formula, like the Yves Saint Laurent Tint-in-Balm in Call Me Rose. Hazelnut looks better in matte form, so try something like the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Amaretto.
Sunset Boulevard
A few of Pantone’s spring shades offer the perfect opportunity to create sunset-inspired eyeshadow. Use Flame, a bright orange, all over the lid. Follow up with Pink Yarrow, a hot magenta, for a perfect crease color. Finish off with Primrose Yellow in the inner corners for a bold pop. To make it even wilder, add Lapis Blue, a midnight shade, to the lash line. This touch will give the effect of the sun setting on a dark night sky. The bold shades can be found in the NYX Bright Ultimate Shadow Palette or the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette. Up the ante further by swirling Pink Yarrow or Flame on your cheeks and lips. Seeing Green
This combination works for any eye color, but paired with green eyes, the shades look much more dramatic. Using Greenery, a muted lime shade, with Kale, a deep forest green, is a fun twist on the typical smoky eye. Apply the lighter shade, which can be found in the Butter London + Pantone Eye Shadow Palette, all over the lid and blend the darker shade, something like the Nars Eyeshadow in Night Porter, into the crease and outer corner. If you want to include the green, but are afraid of such intense color, add in a dark gray shadow to keep it more neutral. Finish off the look with a Hazelnut shade on the lips.
